Peter C. Braithwaite is a business and community engagement leader with a longstanding commitment to expanding educational opportunities and strengthening communities. He serves in a leadership role with the Chessmen Club of the North Shore, supporting the organization’s mission of providing scholarships, mentorship, and resources to help young people achieve their full potential.
Peter previously served for more than a decade on the Evanston City Council, representing the Second Ward, where he championed initiatives related to economic inclusion, workforce development, and minority business advancement. His professional experience spans leadership roles in business development, community engagement, and strategic partnerships within higher education and the private sector.
A dedicated volunteer and mentor, Peter has served on numerous civic and nonprofit initiatives focused on youth development and community empowerment. He is an active member of Sherman United Methodist Church, where he has held leadership roles in support of the church’s mission and outreach efforts.
A graduate of Evanston Township High School and the University of Kansas, Peter remains passionate about creating pathways for future generations to thrive through education, service, and collaboration.
